BBN Technologies

The CUGF Unattended Ground Sensor System (CUGSS) is a prototype demonstration of the use of multiple, networked ground nodes of multi-phenomenological sensors (electro-magnetic, acoustic, seismic) for UGF monitoring and target characterization. Underground facilities (UGFs) are a serious and growing asymmetric threat to our security. The Defense Advanced Research Agency's (DARPA) Counter Underground Facilities (CUGF) program is developing both the scientific foundation and the technologies to maintain U.S. dominance over the proliferating threat posed by these underground structures. BBN is also investigating innovative technologies such as robust geo-coupling techniques, small non line of sight (NLOS) communications, and advanced signal processing for utility in this and other ground sensor programs.
