Raytheon BBN Technologies Sensor Systems infrasound experts have been performing relevant research and development efforts for over a decade in support of numerous customers, including the DOE/NNSA, US Army/SMDC, AFRL, and DTRA. We have collaborated in our work with infrasound researchers at the Naval Research Lab (NRL), Los Alamos National Lab (LANL), and U. of Mississippi, as well as other leading academic and government laboratories. Raytheon BBN Technologies has developed the infrasound modeling software tool kit InfraMAP, which we have delivered to key users in the monitoring community. Our research includes performance prediction of infrasonic monitoring systems by application of physics-based acoustic models, assessment of atmospheric dynamics and effects on infrasound propagation, and use of high-resolution geospatial databases. We have ongoing efforts with the objectives of calibrating models, quantifying monitoring capabilities through special event analysis, and adapting modeling techniques for application to tactical ranges and scenarios.
