Richard Lazarus

Technical Director

As a Technical Director and Deputy Manager for the Quantum Information Processing Business Unit, Rich is responsible for group business development, for project management and oversight, and for the career development of business unit technical staff. Rich's work has mostly focused on creating sofware tools that enable people to learn sophisticated skills or manage complex systems. Currently, he is managing a collaborative team focused on the research and development of tools to understand resource utilization across all aspects of full-size quantum computers. This research examines and explores tradeoffs across algorithm representations, logical resources, fault tolerance, and quantum control techniques. Previoulsy, Rich managed a group focused on game-based training and AI whose achievements included the DARWARS and Ambush training systems. Prior to that, he led a distributed software group whose achievements included the Cougaar distributed agent system.
