Raytheon BBN provides distributed agent modules to the Brigade Combat Team Modernization (BCTM) program. These agents implement reliable, efficient network status dissemination critical to the operation of wireless IP networks that use the emerging Joint Tactical Radio System's Ground Mobile Radio.

Governance of mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) is particularly challenging. MANETs have limited bandwidth, so the Network Management solution must use its fraction efficiently. The intermittent and unreliable links in a MANET make accurate reporting and data collection difficult. MANETs setup, radio band assignment, user bandwidth allocation, and information security requirements interact with each other making them difficult to use and understand.

Raytheon BBN's NMS solution provides a comprehensive set of tools and techniques based on advanced network research to efficiently disseminate network status and control information and to present it to the human operator concisely and concretely. The distributed agent solution runs within the BCTM System of Systems Common Operating Environment (SOSCOE).
