The Asio Semantic Bridge for Web Services (SBWS) is a specific tool that enables the integration of RESTful and SOAP-based web services into a Semantic Web environment. Asio SBWS provides a simple interface that is easily integrated into legacy and heritage systems and requires little customization. When used in conjunction with Asio SQD and open source tools such as Snoggle, sharing your data is easier than ever before.

Asio SBWS's methodology streamlines the integration of RESTful and SOAP-based web services into an effective Semantic architecture. Asio SBWS provides the necessary translation mechanism to transform semantic queries (in SPARQL) to WSDL inputs and outputs and returns the results in RDF.

The first step is to establish the data source ontology in the OWL Web Ontology Language. Mapping rules from this data source ontology to a pre-existing domain ontology are then defined using SWRL, the Semantic Web Rule Language. This process is greatly simplified using SQD and open source tools such as Snoggle, with its intuitive drag and drop interface. Once the mapping is complete and the new data source is added to the configuration, it becomes available for semantic queries. This entire integration process requires no changes to the existing system and does not require any new code to be written.

The Asio Semantic Bridge for Web Services is an integral part of the Asio tool suite. Asio SBWS's unique features and capabilities allow SOAP-based web services to enable the Semantic Web in a self-contained system, and can be easily incorporated into existing systems, without adding costly customization or overhead.
