Is Your Game Technology Useful for Training or Planning?

Both the game industry and the military have something to offer each other. The military, and government in general, is facing ever more complicated problems that require ever more sophisticated training, rehearsal, and experimentation to solve. Government organizations have therefore increasingly set aside funds for creative solutions to these training and education problems.

We Can Help

The game industry understands how to create simulations, models, and experiences that could help support these new training efforts, but has not generally understood the problems of the military and government.

Raytheon BBN Technologies has a sixty-year history of developing innovative technology for the government. We want to use our experience to help bring the creativity and inventiveness of the game industry to bear on tough problems in the military and government.

Background

Raytheon BBN Technologies works with government agencies to bring the best knowledge from the gaming world to bear on problems in training and simulation. Most recently, we have worked for the Department of Defense to develop the architecture for DARWARS, a platform for turning game-based technologies into measurable and effective training for the military. And we develped the first application for that platform, called DARWARS Ambush!, for convoy lessons-learned training.

Training Delivery

Environments for the efficient delivery of training, incorporating disperate training systems into a one stop, pedagogically designed system, has been the approach in:

  • DARWARS — The training-superiority program of the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
  • JADL IPA Training Integration — Integrating simulation-based, multi-user training within the Joint Advanced Distributed Learning Co-Laboratory's architecture for the future.
  • COVE — The Conning Officer Virtual Environment, incorporating voice commands and the actual behavior of ships for training bridge officers in the difficult ship-handling operations involved with fueling while underway.

Contact us if:
  • You see a training problem in the government that your technology could solve
  • You have produced a training system and you want to know if it would be useful for the military of government
  • You are responding to a BAA, SBIR, or other solicitation
  • You have a technology that would be a good match for DARWARS

We are interested in helping anyone with serious interest in improving government training and simulation.
