BBN Technologies' Alfred W. Arsenault Awarded for Service to the Advancement and Optimization of Key Intelligence Community and Department of Defense Information Technology Systems
Cambridge, Mass., May 8, 2007 — BBN Technologies, an advanced technology solutions firm, proudly announces that Alfred W. Arsenault, division engineer, has been honored by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) for his invaluable service to the advancement and optimization of key Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) information technology (IT) systems as part of the Certification and Accreditation (C&A) Transformation
The Associate Director of National Intelligence and DNI Chief Information Officer, Hon. Dale Meyerrose, honored Mr. Arsenault with the DNI CIO's "Keep IT Simple Award" at a ceremony held in McLean, Virginia on March 30th in recognition of outstanding leadership in support of the C&A Transformation.
The C&A Transformation is a set of proposed changes designed to allow for more rapid deployment of IT systems for improved information sharing between the IC, DoD and others. As part of this project, Mr. Arsenault led a team made up of representatives of the Navy, SpaceCom, the Intelligence Community, the Air Force, and the Australian government that examined and provided recommendations for enhancing certification/accreditation requirements and standard documentation processes within the IC and DoD IT systems.

Mr. Arsenault is a multifaceted expert in information assurance with noteworthy strengths in wireless system security, KMI/PKI, product evaluation, system/network security architecture, and network/internet protocol security. Since joining BBN in 2003, he has established himself as a senior leader in BBN' Columbia, Maryland office and has consistently demonstrated superior technical leadership resulting in recognition from his BBN colleagues, external contractors and customers.
Prior to BBN, Mr. Arsenault served as the CTO at Diversinet, focusing on the development of security and authentication solutions for wireless products. Before Diversinet he held the title of Principal Computer Scientist, United States Department of Defense and served 16 years as a lead technical contributor. In addition, his expertise has often been on display at the National Computer Security Conference (NCSC), which for many years was recognized as the sole annual conference focused on the practical aspects of secure computing.
Mr. Arsenault earned an A.S. in computer science and a B.S. in physics from Southeastern Louisiana University and a M.S. in computer science and statistics from Purdue University. He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the IEEE Computer Society, and the IEEE Communications Society. Mr. Arsenault has published and presented extensively on a wide-range of information security topics to a variety of government, academic, and professional audiences.
